Employer Sponsored Work Visa

Types of Employer-Sponsored Visas

Below are some of the key visa categories available under the Employer-Sponsored Work Visa program:

Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa (Subclass 482)
The Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (Subclass 482) enables employers to address labor shortages by hiring skilled workers from overseas when they cannot find qualified Australians. This visa allows holders to work in their nominated occupation and may offer a pathway to permanent residency.

Basic Requirements:

English Proficiency: IELTS overall score of 5.
Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
Age Limit: No age restriction.
Health and Character: Must meet health and character requirements.

There are two streams within the TSS Visa:

A. Medium and Long-Term TSS Visa (Subclass 482):
- Your occupation must be on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).
- Pathway to permanent residency is available after 3 years on this visa.
B. Short-Term TSS Visa (Subclass 482):
No pathway to permanent residency unless the position is in a regional area.

Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 494)

The Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa (Subclass 494) allows regional employers to sponsor skilled workers to fill labor shortages in regional areas. The visa is valid for up to 5 years, and holders are required to live, work, and study in regional Australia.

Key Features:

Replaces the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) Visa (Subclass 187).
Visa condition 8579 restricts holders to living, working, and studying only in regional areas.
Provides a pathway to permanent residency after fulfilling specific conditions.

Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) Visa (Subclass 186)

The Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186) allows Australian employers to sponsor highly skilled workers for permanent residency in Australia. This visa is a great option for those seeking to live and work permanently in the country.

Basic Requirements:

Must have the necessary skills for the nominated job.
Must be nominated by an eligible Australian employer.
Must meet health and character requirements.

Temporary Activity Visa (Subclass 408)

The Temporary Activity Visa (Subclass 408) allows individuals to come to Australia for specific short-term work or activities. The visa covers a range of activities, such as entertainment, sports, religious work, or research.

Basic Requirements:

Must possess the skills needed to undertake the specific activity in Australia.
Must be supported or sponsored by an Australian organization.
