Professional Year Program

The Professional Year (PY) Program is an essential educational initiative designed to enhance career development and improve a student’s job preparedness. This program is specifically tailored to help international students in Australia transition into the workforce by equipping them with practical skills and experience.

The PY Program is a well-structured pathway that offers aspiring professionals practical training and insight into their future career paths. It comes in three specialized streams:

Professional Year Program in Accounting:
The Accounting PY Program is available for international students who have completed at least two years of accounting studies at an Australian university. Graduates with an Australian accounting degree can complete this program to gain a skills assessment, which is essential when applying for General Skilled Migration (GSM).
Professional Year Program in Engineering:
To enroll in the Engineering PY Program, students must have completed a Technologist or Professional Engineer degree within four years of application, with a minimum two-year study period (94 weeks). This degree must be recognized as an Engineering course under the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). Applicants with overseas engineering qualifications must also submit their academic transcripts if their Australian degree is not engineering-related.
Professional Year Program in Information Technology:
This PY Program is available to students who have completed an ICT-related Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or higher) at an Australian tertiary institution. Applicants must have completed two years of full-time study in Australia before commencing the PY Program.

Eligibility Requirements for the Professional Year Program:

To participate in the PY Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Hold a valid passport and visa that allows full work and study rights in Australia. Priority is given to applicants with a 485 Skilled Graduate Visa or Bridging Visa, with a minimum of 12 months (365 days) validity from the commencement of the PY Program.
Present a valid English language test result (IELTS or equivalent) from within the last three years, demonstrating competency in English as per DHA standards.
Participate in an interview with an accredited provider to confirm program suitability, internship expectations, and the viability of the internship.

Program Duration:

The PY Program runs for 44 weeks, including a 12-week internship placement. The first 32 weeks focus on enhancing business communication skills and familiarizing students with Australian workplace standards. The final 12 weeks involve a hands-on internship, providing valuable experience in a real-world Australian work environment.
